After struggling with my mental health for many years, I was introduced to mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) whilst at university. Although initially unconvinced, I came to realise that meditation, acceptance, and self-compassion were key skills to support my mental health and overall wellbeing. Around the same time, I discovered yoga. At first my yoga was just a way to stretch – an antidote to the more dynamic exercise I enjoyed at that time, namely running marathons, rowing, and gyming. However, what became apparent was that I left a yoga class feeling not just better physically, but also better mentally.
As I began to witness the profound changes that these two practices were bringing about in my own life, I became interested in how I could use them to support others. I enrolled on a mindfulness teacher training programme with the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation in 2019 and a Yoga-Alliance certified 200 hour yoga teacher training with Yoga West in 2021.
My own practice continues to develop. Alongside my meditation practice, I currently practise ashtanga yoga, alongside some yin yoga, and also love to attend classes on pranayama and yoga philosophy.
I would love to meet you on the mat and share these amazing practices with you.
